Black and White is still valid to use. What you are doing is pretty normal. The sidebars in any theme are built using default content. When you start using widgets, the default content gets replaced.

It is pretty normal.

Also if that first part doesn't work out for you, you can make the edit in the main index template as well.

Find this

<?php if (have_posts()) : ?>
<?php query_posts('showposts=#'); while(have_posts()) : the_post(); $firstpost = $post->ID; ?>

 <div class="post" id="post-<?php the_ID(); ?>">

and replace # with the number of posts you want it to show. Its about 3-4 lines down from the top.

Go to Settings on the blog admin page and then for this value "Blog pages show at most" put the number of posts you want to show.

Also, because this theme has those old post boxes below the main posts, you need to offset them by the number of posts you show on the main page. For this, go to Design then Theme Editor. Click on Main Index Template and then find this

<?php if (have_posts()) : ?>

 <?php $count=0; while (have_posts()) : the_post(); if(!($firstpost == $post->ID)) : ?>
<?php if($count % 2 == 0) echo '
'; else echo '
'; ?>

and make it look like this

<?php if (have_posts()) : ?>
<?php query_posts('offset=004'); ?>

 <?php $count=0; while (have_posts()) : the_post(); if(!($firstpost == $post->ID)) : ?>
<?php if($count % 2 == 0) echo '
'; else echo '
'; ?>

Now I put offset=004 but you offset it the number of posts you show on the main page. Just check the last post shown versus the first box to make sure they aren't the same and are in proper order.

I am using the Xplosive Reloaded theme and I have an issue with the main page of my blog. When I click Older Entries, it just loads the main page again but adds /page/2/ on the end of the URL.

Older Entries works fine on the Archive and Search pages. The code for the older entries links is the same as the Archives and Search, and those work perfectly, so I know its not code, but must be something weird.

I have the same problem than above :
- I am trying to insert link into the accordion text (not the title). So that I could link this to tag for example, and display the related posts into the main page.

Could you provide me the answer by mail too ?

Thanks in advance

When you go to the "Archives" section or to an added "Authors" widget on the sidebar, the theme seems to only post one page of posts. There's no "older entries" button to go backward. In other words, if you have written 100 posts in August, only the first dozen or so show up after you hit the "August" button and there's no way to go backward. Same thing if you hit on an author's name. You get the last few articles and no way to go deeper into the database.

Is there an easy fix for this?

Thanks.

I've discovered something strange ... When I switch my permalink structure from /%postname%/ to /%category%/%postname%/, my 404 page works regardless of how many fake sub-sub-subfolders I test.

It also works when I use simply /%post_id%/ ... Just never when I use /%postname%/ on its own. Very strange.

Here's to hoping someone responds.

Hey everyone, I'm having a very strange problem at the moment with my 404 page. When I visit a fake subfolder such as:
http://www.example.com/wordpress/abc/
It works perfectly.

When I visit a fake sub-subfolder such as:
http://www.example.com/wordpress/abc/abc/
It still works perfectly!

But if I visit a fake sub-sub-subfolder, (Or anything higher than a sub-sub-sub,) Such as:
http://www.example.com/abc/abc/abc/
It only works halfway. My '404 Error' image shows up, but the accompanying text, 'Sorry, that page wasn't found.', doesn't show up at all, as if the text was never there.

Everything else works perfectly, the header, the sidebar, the footer ... Everything except the text.

I know this isn't normal behaviour, so how do I go about fixing it? Here is my 404.php's code:

<?php get_header(); ?>

<?php if(have_posts()) : ?><?php while(have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>

<?php endwhile; ?>
<?php else : ?>

Sorry, that page wasn't found.

<?php endif; ?>

<?php get_sidebar(); ?>

<?php get_footer(); ?>

Hi Jai, thx for the feedback.

It unfortunately still doesn't solve the issues even when I turn of all plugins & widgets.

Just search the theme files. You will see a file called index-normal.php in the theme folder. Just name your index.php file to something else (as a backup) and then rename index-normal.php to index.php

You should now see a normal blog.
