Hi Jai/ community,

I'm wondering, Jai, if you write those queries yourself? Why do you not use the functions template? If those are not your own plugins, do you have tips for how one might use plugins built-in (if that is indeed what you do)?

I love the added functionality in your themes and I've tried to pull them apart to imitate them. thanks for providing these free themes!

I am looking for something similar to the Now Reading plugin that would allow me and my users to keep track of Wine in our wine cellar and reviews of those that we have drank.

Hi,

Its really a personal preference as to what you choose because every one of them is a bit different from each other. Some use tags, categories or a mix of both and you can know this fact from there. Search engine spiders just need to know that the content exists and they will index you for that. So this will only matter more for your readers. I use both tags and categories on my posts.

Tags are useful as they can be accessed right beneath the post and the reader does not have to go to the sidebar. But tags have a limitation that they are only related to a single post whereas categories give you an overview of all your blog content.

So, go figure!!

Hi Jai, Looking to get some professional advice from you.

I am on a quest to find the best related posts plugin for WP. Some use tags and some use categories. I feel they should use both. But then I also feel strongly about external services like blogrush and arkayne.

Arkayne is way better then what blogrush is and I am thinking of using it as my related posts plugin. Blogrush is still learning but Arkayne has a good headstart.

What is you view on related posts and also running external services vs processing just my posts?

I searched and found a Wordpress plugin called “Different Posts Per Page” that allows you to set different number of posts in home, category, archive or the search page. The order can also be modified.

I have currently set my WP to only show 5 post per page. The problem I am facing is when trying to load a custom page to show posts from a specific category.

For example, when a visitor clicks on the Linux category they will be taken to my category page which displays just the post titles. The problem is I am only able to show 5 as that is what's set in WP.

Ho do I overwrite this so that my main page will only show 5 and my category page will show 20 posts per page.

Thank You.
