Hi everyone,
I am having a problem with the Rhea theme (thx Jai!) and MSIE 6.0.

If you open my blog @ http://saniblog.org using MSIE 6.0, the "entry" / articles are pushed down to the level where the left sidebar stops (just right behind the last widget there). Once I deactivate all widgets on that lsidebar, content reappears on top.

To exclude any manipulations with this tweaked template version, I've renamed it and uploaded another - clean - Rhea theme and activated it. Still, the same problem happens.

Now, when I look at other sites that are also using rhea (digiactive.org, triumphrally.org), this particular MS IE 6.x problem does not seem to occur on their sites.

Jai, please help! :-)

Thank You!

I'm trying to implement a text feedflare at the bottom of each of my posts. I have downloaded the plugin, set it up in feedburner and now I'm trying to past the html code into the index.php and single.php in the Rhea theme.

The directions from feedflare/feedburner says to put the code:

Paste the code you copied in step 1 just above the line <p class="postmetadata">. If you don’t see this code, don’t panic! Just paste the code near the post metadata (author, date, comments, etc) or contact us for help.

I don't see postmetadata at all and I've tried to put it various places without it showing up at all.

Anyone else get this simple thing to work?

Hmmm, I just re-opened a fresh index.php from the original Zip file dated 12-23-07, and that line is there. Maybe you accidentally deleted the line? I say that because there's also some Javascript after that line. If you deleted the Javascript, you may have accidentally grabbed that line.

Hope it's working correctly for you now.

Are you guys looking at a different download? This is what I have from the original index.php that I downloaded in Nov 07. Here are the first few lines:

<div id="lsidebar"><?php include (TEMPLATEPATH . '/lsidebar.php'); ?></div>

 <?php while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?>

Jai! Issue solved! When initially setting up the images for uploading, I had selected "align left." Then I inserted the image in a temporary post, just in order to copy the image's code/link info. I then pasted that info into the widget box. That info did specifically mention the left alignment. When I removed that reference from the widget box, the widgets acted normally. It had not occurred to me to check that particular code, or that the left alignment for these images meant everything following them would wrap. I had used the same procedure in WP 2.3 to copy and paste image code/link info into the widget boxes, but apparently the coding used in WP 2.5 is different, more detailed.

So this issue, thankfully, is solved! Thank you SO much for responding. I know you have lots to do, and I really appreciate your taking the time and effort to help.

Here are my thoughts.. the images are getting aligned (to left or right) which is making the text wrap around them.

You will have to check the code for the images.

Hello, planning4ever. In the original index.php file, four lines down from the top is the code:

<div align="center" style="padding:10px;">

Changing that, as Linda indicated, fixed my issue. Plus, since I wanted my title to be left-justified, I also changed "center" to "left". So my Line 4 in index.php now looks like this:

<div align="left" style="padding:0px 10px 0px 10px;">

I don't have IE 6, but I did test this in IE 5, and it looks right.

I hope this helps some.

Yes, it was initially working correctly in 2.3, seemingly without having made any changes in the CSS that would have caused this. I suppose if there seems to be no other route, I could reinstall 2.3. (My brain is a bit weary to consider doing that at this point, but it's not out of the question.) This problem is occurring in both sidebars.

Let me ask this: When I move a widget that only has TEXT in it ABOVE a widget that has IMAGES, the layout in the sidebar remains correct. It's only when I move the widget with TEXT in it BELOW the widget with IMAGES in it that the sidebar layout gets messed up. Would that kind of behavior indicate it's not a CSS issue? Or not necessarily?

Does this behavior bring to mind any possible solution other than testing again in 2.3?

Sorry to be a bother on this, Jai. Thank you.

Okay, I'm having the same problem, but only in Explorer 6.0 (which most of my users use). I didn't even have:
<div align="center" style="padding:10px 10px 10px 10px;">
</div>
located in my index.php page. So I added it back in. No change. Then I changed it to what Linda suggested:

<div align="center" style="padding:0px 10px 0px 10px;">,

Hello, Jai -- I'd been using your Rhea theme in WP 2.3 to set up a new blog, and things were going great till I upgraded to 2.5. I'm trying to troubleshoot where the problem lies, so I thought I'd first check with you regarding the Rhea theme itself.

The problem I'm having using the Rhea theme in WP 2.5 is that inserting images in text widgets causes the widget below it to be positioned directly TO THE RIGHT of the text widget that contains an image, in a long, skinny column -- instead of it showing up as expected BENEATH the text widget that contains an image. When I remove the image from the text widget, the sidebar widgets display correctly. I've double-checked the image width to make sure it wasn't too big, but even a very small image in the text widget causes this problem.

I was also successfully using Daiko's Text Widget in conjunction with the default Text widget prior to upgrading to WP 2.5.

Are you aware of any incompatibility with the Rhea theme and WP 2.5 that might be causing the above problem? Or does this possibly only have something to do with changes made to WP 2.5 itself that are affecting text widgets containing images?

Thank you.

Yes, I do have the web developer toolkit in Firefox. From the web developer toolbar, I've been going to Miscellaneous > Clear Private Data > All Private Data..., and I check all the options (except for Saved Passwords) -- and then I click on the page reload button. I found that if I only went to Miscellaneous > Clear Private Data > Cache before clicking the page reload button, that wouldn't always make the changes show up. I also found that I had to make sure the "Cookies" option was checked in the All Private Data window, as that has made a difference.

I've even temporarily disabled the WP-CACHE plugin. I've assumed this was a good plug-in to use, but for now I've got it disabled. I don't really know if it's an issue -- I've just been trying to pinpoint the problem with the delayed changes.

Do you use the WP-CACHE plugin, or something similar?

hmm, I haven't encountered that? Although - how do you refresh the page to view a change? It sounds like the old file is being stored in your browser memory so you're not viewing the latest one. Get firefox web developer toolbar for easy clearing of cookies etc. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/60

I usually just press the "F5" button to see a change, that forces the page to reload.

But I'm no expert. Also I'm using Firefox on Windows Server 2003.

Linda! Bless you, bless you! That indeed solved the problem. I'd looked at that section of code earlier -- but I hadn't been thinking that the 10 pixels referenced there (for the top AND bottom) was creating the 20-pixel space problem. I'm very rusty with my CSS, so it didn't jump out at me. Thanks so much for posting the solution, which is bound to help other folks, too.

I've also been encountering some other issues that have made it difficult to determine the cause of various problems. This is my first time to use WordPress, and right now I'm creating my blog/website (using Jai's great Rhea template) on a local server on my Mac, working in Safari. After experiencing a number of quirky things, I finally found references online where folks have been having problems losing formatting in WordPress' Visual Editor when using Safari. So I moved over to Firefox, where the Visual Editor is working just great. However, some changes are taking "forever" to take effect (which was also happening in Safari). I'm not sure whether this is a browser issue, or is the result of working on a local server. Nevertheless, it's driving me crazy at times, because some changes are taking a while to show up. So at times I'm wondering if I've actually made the correct change, as I wait for the change to hopefully take effect. Have you (or anyone else reading this post) experienced this type of sluggishness with changes taking effect in WordPress?

Anyway, thanks again for your help with the spacing issue -- much appreciated.

Hi, Jai --

The spacing issue with the most recent post still exists even with the few plugins I have deactivated. Is Linda onto something with her observation about the padding?

Can you help? Please?! Thanks!

Deb

I've got the same problem at http://www.triumphrally.org

I've located where the extra padding is coming from, index.php is inserting a 20px padding for entries. It's only affecting the most recent post.

This is the code thats doing it: <?php get_header(); ?>
<div id="lsidebar"><?php include (TEMPLATEPATH . '/lsidebar.php'); ?></div>
<div class="entry">
<div align="center" style="padding:10px 10px 10px 10px;">
</div>

see the padding?
Help Jai!!

Are you sure you are not using some plugin which might be taking up that space ?

Hello, Jai --

I'm still tweaking the Rhea template. I've looked but can't locate the code that is causing the most recent post to be pushed down a little more than it should be. It looks to be about 22 pixels lower than the top of the widget that's located at the top of the left-hand sidebar. When a new post is added, the new post becomes positioned at the same, lower position.

I looked at another site that uses the Rhea template, and it's not exhibiting the same issue. I also reloaded unedited versions of the index.php and the style.css files, but that didn't fix the position, either.

Sorry for the trouble, but hopefully this is an easy fix.

Thanks for your help.

Deb

Jai, I discovered your website and your wonderful templates today. I've downloaded Rhea and have made great strides with it already. It's such a nice template! Thanks so much for making it available.

I just have a question regarding changing the color of Post titles and the color of bullets. I can't seem to find where either of these is referenced in the accompanying files.

I hope this won't be too much trouble to answer. I will greatly appreciate your assistance.

Thanks so much.
