rsidebar.php has already been edited by the insertion of some HTML in order to display Google ads. So it's not affecting what appears in the left side.

I have edit widgets to control what appears in the left bar. But it strikes me a very strange that in widgets, Meta cannot be edited yet when it display it show a totally different block that I cannot find anywhere in the files.

So, I am still mystified as to where this content comes from.

Its rsidebar.php and not lsidebar.php that you have to modify :)

I want to edit lsidebar.php that I think, from it's title would control the left sidebar. I want the links below Log In/Register to read:

Log In / Register

    * Site Admin
* Log out
* Entries RSS
* Comments RSS

In other words, remove the last link, the one to WordPress because it is redundant of what is in the footer.

First of all, I'm confused because the code says the block title should display as "Meta"

But actually it is displaying as "Log In / Register". Where is that coming from?

Further the code calls for "This page validates as XHTML 1.0 Transitional" but that's not displaying. Nor is the "Valid XHTML" coded in this file displaying.

When I delete the those spurious links in the TE and also FTP an overwrite of the file, there is no change. It's as if I made no edit at all.

And there is no code for two RSS links that are displaying.

Apprentlyly, lsidebar.php is not what controls this block.

So where do I make the edits I want in left sidebar if lsidebar.php is not it?

To deepen the mystery, an attempted edit of the Post line that reads "Read the rest of this entry »" seems to be successful. I change it to display "Continue reading." But despite doing it in both the Theme Editor and via FTP overwrite to the server, the change does not display.

I'm really confused. Never saw any thing like this before. I must be doing something really wrong. Yes, the files and folders are CHMODed to 777 and I get no error msgs by either the TE or the FTP. Obviously, the files are edited, but what I see on site is not changed at all.

Can anyone put me on the right track?

TIA
