How do you get to display more posts as a list of posts and then more boxes with older posts?

In order to display more posts on the blog page, please check the options->reading section of your wordpress admin. That will control the no. of boxes as well because boxes are your total posts on the main page - 1 (which is your latest post.)

I would like to do the same, but the Options>Reading only allows me to show the # of most recent posts and the # of posts.
It would be nice to show 3-5 posts as regular posts and then start the boxes for the older ones, rather than have just the most recent in post form.
If you like just shoot me an email and I will send you a screenshot or PDF of what the options>reading looks like.
