It’s been almost two months since my last blog post. To make up for it, I am hereby releasing a brand new free WordPress theme called “Dictum”.

Dictum - Free WordPress Theme

This is a WordPress 3.0 + compatible theme with a professional slideshow that you can use to display or highlight any of your categories’ posts. This theme also comes with a social sharing bar in the single post view that will help your users easily bookmark the useful articles from your blog. The widgetized sidebar comes with ready to configure feedburner, twitter and facebook icons that can be setup in the theme’s admin options. The thumbnails are auto-generated and use the default thumbnail size that wordpress generates when you upload an image with a post.
Dictum is a totally free WordPress theme and you can use it however you want as long as you keep the footer credits intact. It has been tested with Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari and Chrome browsers without any problems whatsoever.

Instructions for the slideshow

When you apply this theme to your WordPress, you should go to Appearance -> Dictum Options and configure the slideshow category from where the posts will be pulled up. For the labels below each slide, a custom field has to be set up with each post. The custom field should be called “label”.

Demo & Download

If you decide to use this theme or even if you just want to leave feedback, please feel free to write a comment as this will help me improvise on my work ahead.

Can you point me toward the style.css items that should be changed if I wanted to resize the main column and right hand sidebar? I prefer 640 main column width and smaller sidebar width. Thanks!

Wow, marvelous blog layout! How lengthy have you been running a blog for? you made blogging glance easy. The total look of your website is great, as neatly as the content material!

I like the comments link on the graphic but could not figure out if the Category pages were sticky or changed with the new posts.

I have been going nuts trying to find WP themes with that feature (that are not impossible to learn).

Thanks,
Mark

Probably a stupid question, I am trying to edit the slideshow with my 3 latest blog posts (one for each category I post about). How do I edit the tabs in the slideshow? I dont know much about php.

Actually I figured out how to put posts into the slideshow, but now I have to figure out how to put text into the tabs. For some reason it only shows posts in the slideshow that is labeled uncategorized.

I know the IE 8 isnt the latest version, but I am not seeing the slide section of Dictum in it, it puts the lettering under the slides

Great theme!

In your Testversion the Articles have a thumbnail image without having that image in the article itself.

I would love to have that as well. Do I need to use a custom field to set that up?

Hi!! First of all thank you very much for sharing with all of us such a fantastic theme!!

I´m trying to use it in my website but I´m finding some problems. The comments and the button of “Older entries” always appear at the end of de rigth column (the one with the widgets, the last comments, etc.)leaving a big blank space between the text and the comments or between the last post and the button “Older entries”.

How can I modify it?

Thank you again!! And sorry for my english, it´s not my first language.

I’m trying to use this template and I’m also trying to figure out if I can make the pages not be included in the main nav bar. Any suggestions?

I have 3 uncategorized posts to show up in the slideshow on the home page, but the titles aren’t showing up on the 3 tabs. Any ideas? I looked at source code for mine and the demo, but don’t see anything different. Not sure where it’s pulling from.
