WordPress Theme – Excellence
“Excellence is not a skill. Its an attitude.” So, give your blog some attitude by applying our all new WordPress theme – Excellence. This is a green-colored theme that comes with validated CSS/XHTML code, 125×125 banner space, Sidebar Tabs, Widgetized sidebars and a cute navigation menu. The theme is free of cost and comes under a Creative Commons License (that allows you to make changes and use this theme for personal use, without removing the footer copyright link).
Excellence has been tested with Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox and Opera browsers without any problems. The theme is also compatible with WP 2.7 and above.
How to Install?
The theme does not use any plugins so its pretty much plug and play. Just download and extract the zip file to your desktop. Upload the theme folder (excellence) to your wordpress directory under wp-content/themes and apply the theme by going to the Appearance section of the Wp-admin.

For the “letter to the editor,” can one send his/her blog post to the editor. The instructions say: “Letters to the editor should only be sent to The Times, and not to other publications. We do not publish open letters or third-party letters.”. . Does that mean blog posts, too?. . Thanks a lot..

Hi there – is there any way to do the following:
1) Make it so the post on the front page is more than 3 sentences long?
2) Make it so that the “about author” only shows up on the front page, and not every single page?
3) Make the advertising boxes so they go 3 across like in your example, instead of 2 across and then one down?
4) Not have the advertising boxes on each page, bus specify which pages to put them on?

the theme have a problem, if I execute in the Nu-Sphere the message: Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_header() in C:\Users\zaptecnologia\Desktop\excellence\excellence\index.php on line 1

Love the look of “Exellence,” but am having trouble finding where to modify the text for the “About Author” section and how that possibly coordinates with posts. Also can’t find where to modify the advertisement banners, or possibly change the word “Advertisements” to “Testimonies.” Also, when I try designating child pages to a parent page, there’s no drop down selection from the parent page choice – is that not an inherent feature? Lastly, my green menu box is split, and was that way before I ever changed anything – is that a glitch in my download?
I’m not code-proficient – pretty clueless actually, but these seem to be things that I should be able to just edit (I’m using Page.ly hosting). Please help, or I’ll have to start from scratch with something else!

A friend helped to set up the excellence theme for me for our website and I love it. The colours are great, I love the combination of green and orange. I’d like to use these colours for borders on images to continue the colour theme through our website but don’t know the name of the colours or the html code. Can anyone help? Thanks

How are you making the first post “featured”? I don’t see any admin tools for this theme to select a featured category.

Can anyone help me. I have 5 catagories implemented in my admin panel which have a multitude of posts, however, only 3 are showing on my home page. Any help and/or guidence is greatly appreciated.

How do I edit the “About the author”?

Great choice of colors
If there is ever a variation of this theme, I think an orange color scheme to replace the green would work quite well with the dark grey background.

I have only one question, How to change the width for the post and for the sidebar? I prefer to do more small the side bar and it have more place for the posts.
I have tried to change the width of the navigation bar but when I changed it all things have moved to a bad position.
I have seen that the other users asked to you about that, but you dont answer. Maybe is difficult? a lot of things to change?

This is without a doubt one of the cleanest and classiest of the free templates I have ever seen.
Just like a few previous visitors who posted here I would prefer that the first post in the template was full size and didn’t require an additional click i.e at present it says “read more ”
One of the earlier posts described how to amend that but it would be worth hard coding it in your download as that will top off an awesome template….and therefore get you tons of backlinks. Well done . Andrew from Australia

@Shashank:- you have to install a plugin called ‘redirectify’ then when you create a new page, in the advanced menu section the custom name should be ‘redirect’ and the value should be the link the the specific category page

Okay figured out how to get full posts on the main page. For this you’ll need to access the theme’s index.php file. You’re looking for:
<a href="" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to ">Read More »That number 40 seems to be the amount of words that appear before getting the “Read more” link. For full posts just make that number really big. If you also want to get rid of the “Read more” link you can delete or comment-out:
<a href="" rel="bookmark" title="Permanent Link to ">Read More »That should do it.
There still seems to be a major bug in this theme though: links within posts do not render. I can make a link in either the WYSIWYG or HTML post editors and it doesn’t come through on the published post. It that supposed to be some kind of feature?

125 banners seem to be bit broken in demo, one drops down (Opera 9.63).
Supports your theme localization? It is possible to translte it with a po and mo file?
