WordPress Theme – Firebug
I present to you a very colorful and feature packed WordPress theme that has all the right ingredients to replace your current blog theme. Please welcome “Firebug“! A new WordPress theme from Blog Oh! Blog.
Firebug is a dark (but colorful) theme with two widget-ready sidebars, space for 125×125 banner ads, social tagging options at the end of each post, Gravatar ready comments, feed subscription options, WordPress 2.5+ Gallery feature, and much more. I have also included the logo.psd file in the images folder of the theme so that you can replace the logo.gif file with your own modified version. The WordPress theme is CSS/XHTML validated and has been tested with Firefox, Internet Explorer 6/7 and Safari.
Firebug comes under a Creative Commons License and is free to use on your blog as long as the credit link in the footer is kept intact. I hope everyone enjoys this new theme and please don’t forget to leave comments as they are precious!

I noticed that when you have a number of tags that they would run into the post title under it causing it to be hard to read and very hard to follow a tag link. I edited both single.php (line 13) as well as index.php (line 19) where <?php the_tags is being called to reflect a line break after them to delineate things a bit better.

Well it seems that the software here changed the line of text I entered as code. I hope people do not copy and paste that! I do not know how to edit my comment to change it either. Here is the correct line of code with out the proper opening and closing php statements.

I uploaded the theme Firebug and then activated it from my Dashboard but all I see is the top inch or so. Just the logo and the search field. No text or anything else on the page. Any guidance?? I really like this theme and wanted to continue with it. Thanks

LOVE the theme – I’m in the process of transferring my blog from Blogspot to my own domain – now using WordPress. I’ve managed to get everything transferred smoothly and it looks great EXCEPT…
I want to use my own photo logo as the header, and I can’t get it to load! I’ve read all the info here – uploaded the new file to the image folder, then uploaded the theme, replaced the logo.gif…and I get nothing. I’ve adjusted all the header sizes too (the photo is 640 x 480) – just get a bigger black space!
Please help – I love this theme, and I’m SO close to getting it finished!

I like functionality of the 3 column layout. One thing I noticed is that this is the only theme so far that I have I downloaded that scrolls back to top of page when you click the comment link. All the other themes has the page display straight to the comment section when you click the link.

Dear Jai – I still have a problem in the Authorfield you made. My blog is written in Danish but when ever I use the special caracters like æ, ø, å and Æ, Ø, Å the caracter set is wrong in the Authorfield.
How and where do I tweak the Firebug theme so that I can write with all the 28 letters in the Danish language….

Question: How do I edit the background of the post itself such that it has a “white paper” feel? I know I have to create the paper texture, the bottom, top, and corner images, but where/how do I add them to the template so that the post appears to be written on said “paper”?

Question: I want to put in another link in the top navigation that links directly to Flickr, without having to create a page and then on that page put a link to Flickr. Is there anyway to do that?
I’ve installed the theme and found a problem. When attempting to use “IntenseDebate” javascript for showing the most recent comments…it will NOT display anything at all.
So, something is amiss with the dynamic sidebar that makes things not display. I may fix this in the code myself but wanted to know if you needed or wanted a patch for things…

It’s a great theme undoubtedly. I specially liked the sidebar.
So many people commented here but hardly anyone noticed. The theme does not work right on IE6. I have checked your demo in IE6 and my site as well. But it doesn’t look good in IE6. For some reason navbkg.png and line.png becomes all white in IE6. I use Firefox but still, it’s good to have IE6 worked up right!
This is a great theme. The only problem I have with it is that the sidebar is a little too big for my purpose. Other than that it is fantastic.

Disregard this comment, I figured it out. If anyone else needs the answer to this, you need to activate the del command in the css file before it works. If your using the (s) command still you should upgrade your tags to (del) while your at it!
Example CSS Addition (goes under Misc.):
del {text-decoration: line-through;}

I had used this theme for about a week,
there’s a bug i think,
my desktop resolution is 1024×768 pixel but the theme appear to be like theres no margin at the left and right side.(hope you’ll understand me)

i have been using this theme for quite sometime now. I have noticed today though that the page is messed up on IE7 as well as Opera. The index page doesnt show up any posts at all unless I click on the archives and the side bars..anybody experiencing this problem? would guys know any fix?

Thanks for a great theme. I tried a lot of them but this really is the best. Have resolved lots of problems due to IIS5 and not the excellent Theme. But… I have one problem left. I made a static home page and excluded the title in the header Then I added a blogpage. In the header the item ‘HOME’ doesn’t get green and when I click the blog page, both the blog page and the Home items are green. Do I have to change the page ID for the static page in orde to set things straight? Or is this something that can’t be altered?

Dear JAI, thank you for your quick response. I think that the template looks too compressed without the Socialbar so I have tested and included it again.
BUT – I would like to – in orange – keep karstenjensen.dk – and in the blue/green blink-action have a text “to the top” – where a clik takes you to the top. But I don’t know how to do that. I have tried several things with no luck.

I think that all the text in that socialbar destroys the page. I have now deleted all the links in it and have written my name in it – looks much easyer to read.

@Winson:- Just open up sidebar.php and find the code which begins with “Advertising”. You will see the code that brings up the banner ads. Once you study it, you will understand how to modify the ads. The ad images are placed in the ads folder of the firebug theme.
In this same file (sidebar.php), you can place your paypal donations code too. Just before the Advertising block, start a new div with class=”boxes” just like the other divs. In that, you can put your paypal code.

The IE 6 problem is caused by PNG files.. I will convert them…;-)

I really like your theme. There seems to be a CCS problem with IE6 if when it ‘s dispalying horizontal lines in the menu and as a dividere between posts. Is there some trick to sole this. Does anyone know how to adjust a parameter in the CSS file?

Well, I’m not sure what else I’m ******** up, but this fixed the problem with the tags overlapping the text that follows.
In the stylesheet (“style.css”) I removed “height:26px;” from this line:
#content p.tags { width:580px; background:url(images/line.png) repeat-x; height:26px; line-height:26px

You say the theme is available under a creative commons license, but you’ve just linked to the wiki. It doesn’t actually specify WHICH creative commons license your themes are released under. Can you please specifiy the license terms?
The gallery doesn’t seem to work with version 2.6 of wordpress, and if you try and ask the developer about it, he says to click the gallery tab, which isn’t there, and that he can’t explain it online, i tried to contact a couple times again, but he just went offline when i said there was no gallery tab… don’t recommend this theme…

I have hacked the theme a bit to widen the main content to fit my 640px videos, and shrunk the sidebars.
Great theme and a nice compliment to my main site!

Thanks for the quick response and solution to the ‘highlight’ problem!
I decided changing to gif was better…i couldn’t expect every reader to be getting a fix / upgrading to IE7. The 3 png files i changed to gif was: navbkg, fooline & line. That solved the problem in IE.
Under Settings > Discussion > Avatars
I have already clicked on: Show Avatars.
and all plugins deactivated. but it doesnt seem to work. Im pretty sure my account is valid cause my gravatar shows up here. Hmmmmm
@vortex:- The strange highlight that you see is because IE6 and lower versions cannot show PNG images properly. So, either you search for a png fix or just replace those images with GIF or JPEG
Also, for gravatars, you do not have to use any plugins. If you use WP2.5+ , gravatar support is already there.

I just installed this theme…everything looks great.
But when i checked it on IE..i got a shock!
There was a strange ‘highlight’ on some headers going on. I deactivated all my plugins to test…but it’s still there.
Any idea on how i can solve this?
well that will teach me for not reading all the way through!
I initially thought it was but didn’t see any reference to an image in the code, just the php title calls and the browser didn’t bring up a context menu for any image so I was confused.

@Jason:- That is an image and not text. As I mentioned in my post, you will have to open logo.psd in photoshop and save a logo.gif file. Replace the existing logo.gif in the images folder with the modified one.

i have already using these theme but I seem to be having some trouble with the comments section. It shows this error:

@Amit Bhawani – Make sure that you have your theme folder directly under wp-content/themes and not a folder in a folder. That’s a common mistake when extracting files.
@Amit Bhawani – I am actually using the theme at http://www.plurkaholics.com – I downloaded it yesterday and got it installed without problems. The only glitch I’ve seen is that on IE 6 there appears to be some background glitches (light blue bars showing up on header and sidebar header areas).
How surprising it is that these many people replied they will use it but i didnt find anyone of them using it, its really a nice theme, but when i uploaded it in my admin backend it does not show up in the themes/presentation section, did anyone else get this bug or is it just me?

I’ve been a bit fan of anything and everything with black background and white text. Maybe it is my age but certainly easier on the eye.

I really like this theme! Is there any way to remove the “socialbar” from every post and from the main page?
i like your themes because they tend to be simple and clutter free, this one has a bit too much going on for my tastes.

Wow, that theme looks great. Generally I’m not a big fan of inverted text, but it really works in there. I may use it to replace my current theme. (or I might design my own, as a learning experience)
