WordPress Theme - Firebug

I present to you a very colorful and feature packed WordPress theme that has all the right ingredients to replace your current blog theme. Please welcome “Firebug“! A new WordPress theme from Blog Oh! Blog.
Firebug is a dark (but colorful) theme with two widget-ready sidebars, space for 125×125 banner ads, social tagging options at the end of each post, Gravatar ready comments, feed subscription options, WordPress 2.5+ Gallery feature, and much more. I have also included the logo.psd file in the images folder of the theme so that you can replace the logo.gif file with your own modified version. The WordPress theme is CSS/XHTML validated and has been tested with Firefox, Internet Explorer 6/7 and Safari.
Firebug comes under a Creative Commons License and is free to use on your blog as long as the credit link in the footer is kept intact. I hope everyone enjoys this new theme and please don’t forget to leave comments as they are precious!

Wow, that theme looks great. Generally I’m not a big fan of inverted text, but it really works in there. I may use it to replace my current theme. (or I might design my own, as a learning experience)

@IndieLab - I think you have taken the URL from the themes slidshow from the top. That download link is meant to direct users to the theme post and not the direct download link. So, its all right.

I’ve been a bit fan of anything and everything with black background and white text. Maybe it is my age but certainly easier on the eye.

How surprising it is that these many people replied they will use it but i didnt find anyone of them using it, its really a nice theme, but when i uploaded it in my admin backend it does not show up in the themes/presentation section, did anyone else get this bug or is it just me?

@Amit Bhawani - I am actually using the theme at http://www.plurkaholics.com - I downloaded it yesterday and got it installed without problems. The only glitch I’ve seen is that on IE 6 there appears to be some background glitches (light blue bars showing up on header and sidebar header areas).

@Amit Bhawani - Make sure that you have your theme folder directly under wp-content/themes and not a folder in a folder. That’s a common mistake when extracting files.

i have already using these theme but I seem to be having some trouble with the comments section. It shows this error:

@Ashwin S - I do not make themes for blogger. All my themes that you see converted for blogger are done by other people. I have not converted any of them and do not have plans to do it either. Sorry about that.

love it! looks great. However, the title call in the header seems to be stuck. it still says FIREBUG. I checked the code and it seems right. I can’t see anything wrong.

@Jason:- That is an image and not text. As I mentioned in my post, you will have to open logo.psd in photoshop and save a logo.gif file. Replace the existing logo.gif in the images folder with the modified one.

well that will teach me for not reading all the way through!
I initially thought it was but didn’t see any reference to an image in the code, just the php title calls and the browser didn’t bring up a context menu for any image so I was confused.

I just installed this theme…everything looks great.
But when i checked it on IE..i got a shock!
There was a strange ‘highlight’ on some headers going on. I deactivated all my plugins to test…but it’s still there.
Any idea on how i can solve this?

@vortex:- The strange highlight that you see is because IE6 and lower versions cannot show PNG images properly. So, either you search for a png fix or just replace those images with GIF or JPEG
Also, for gravatars, you do not have to use any plugins. If you use WP2.5+ , gravatar support is already there.

Thanks for the quick response and solution to the ‘highlight’ problem!
I decided changing to gif was better…i couldn’t expect every reader to be getting a fix / upgrading to IE7. The 3 png files i changed to gif was: navbkg, fooline & line. That solved the problem in IE.
Under Settings > Discussion > Avatars
I have already clicked on: Show Avatars.
and all plugins deactivated. but it doesnt seem to work. Im pretty sure my account is valid cause my gravatar shows up here. Hmmmmm

I have hacked the theme a bit to widen the main content to fit my 640px videos, and shrunk the sidebars.
Great theme and a nice compliment to my main site!

I installed this theme and I get this error message (or a variation of it) on the home page of my site:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: the_tags() in /home/oxyficat/public_html/justinholt/wp-content/themes/firebug/single.php on line 14
I can seem to navigate other pages of the site, just not the main page of it. Any suggestions?

@Najib Hassan:- Its because IE6 cannot show PNG images properly. Try converting the PNG images in the images folder to gif or jpeg and change the reference in style.css file.

Woah, awesome theme! Very nice! Excellent work. I love the way it looks on my blog, except I think I found a small bug. This post… http://www.premagination.com/2.....processor/(zero advertisements) has several tags, perhaps too many as Firebug places text over the top of them.

hello, I was just wondering, if you could give us some customization tips.
I am interested in using this firebug theme, but I would like to have a nice tabbed interface like the statement theme instead of the about section.
I just had a look at the statement theme, is it just the code from sidebar.php that I need to copy? I couldn’t find anything inside the functions.php…

one more issues: the menu is not fully compatible with the qtranslate plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/qtranslate/

If you select a certain language, and then hover over any other link, it’ll include that language in the url, just the link to HOME/blog points back to the plain domain without any language tags inside the url

The gallery doesn’t seem to work with version 2.6 of wordpress, and if you try and ask the developer about it, he says to click the gallery tab, which isn’t there, and that he can’t explain it online, i tried to contact a couple times again, but he just went offline when i said there was no gallery tab… don’t recommend this theme…

You say the theme is available under a creative commons license, but you’ve just linked to the wiki. It doesn’t actually specify WHICH creative commons license your themes are released under. Can you please specifiy the license terms?

Well, I’m not sure what else I’m screwing up, but this fixed the problem with the tags overlapping the text that follows.
In the stylesheet (”style.css”) I removed “height:26px;” from this line:
#content p.tags { width:580px; background:url(images/line.png) repeat-x; height:26px; line-height:26px

Hello Jai,
I really like your theme. There seems to be a CCS problem with IE6 if when it ’s dispalying horizontal lines in the menu and as a dividere between posts. Is there some trick to sole this. Does anyone know how to adjust a parameter in the CSS file?

@Winson:- Just open up sidebar.php and find the code which begins with “Advertising”. You will see the code that brings up the banner ads. Once you study it, you will understand how to modify the ads. The ad images are placed in the ads folder of the firebug theme.
In this same file (sidebar.php), you can place your paypal donations code too. Just before the Advertising block, start a new div with class=”boxes” just like the other divs. In that, you can put your paypal code.
